Hertz was closed. We never got the car that we reserved and paid for.

The Hertz office is run by a crook. Closed the office an hour early so we couldn't return the car at the correct time and then charged a massive fee for late return. Unacceptable.

The check out guy was supposed to call hertz and activate the navigation. This was never done I had to pay for data on my phone every day AND it used up more than needed and I had to pay for extra at 10 bucks per day I think I should be compensated somehow

The pick up at airport was fine. The car had some issues in first gear and made it a bit scary when you needed to accelerate quickly, it had a major lag. But the biggest issue was the return location. It was completely innacurate address in Bruneck. I wandered around on foot in the peak heat of the day trying to find it. Asking multiple people for directions. They need to update this, it really ruined the whole experience. It took over an hour to find and return the car.

Cost was double what I was originally quoted. Was charged for an extra day for a bunch of small details for the drop off that were not explained at pick up.

The car smelled awful from cigarette smoke on the pick up, the smell was stuck bad and it took a few days for it to get out. moreover, the car was low on AdBlue and washers fluid, feels like it didn’t go through a basic service. Tried to contact Avis costumer service during the period to switch the car but they didn’t get back to me to this day. The answering machine at the office is only Italian so it was hard to just get someone to talk to in english.

Both the man with whom we checked in and the man with whom we left the car at the end of our rental were very friendly and accommodating. Last rental just before noon closing time on a Saturday. Was necessary to change cars from what they had waiting for us, but someone had JUST dropped off a better car and they changed it easily for us. No complaints. Pleasant experience. Thanks. Do note that we were not renting at a busy airport, just a small rental office in a moderate sized city in Italy.
