I’ve rented from kayak and budget many times but this particular experience was horrendous. The budget agent was the most rude and unhelpful person I’ve ever dealt with. He nearly refused to answer any questions I had, wouldn’t let me prepay for gas, would explain anything on my bill, didn’t give me a contract, didn’t input my email so I would get a reciept or able to review him on budget. WORST EXPERIENCE

Michelle, the person behind the counter at the 87th street Budget, is incredibly rude and uses intentionally misleading sentences to make it seem like you have to pay for things that you do not have to pay for. This isn’t my first bad experience with her either. The last time I rented a car from this location, she was rude to me and multiple other customers in line. One customer even came back in to let her know she was rude and that they would be following up with a complaint. I will be avoiding Budget from here on out because of Michelle.

They reserved cars they did not have and had a line of 30 people waiting for cars due to their negligence. Complete lack of professionalism from staff in dealing with the issue. Took 2 hours in total from start of my reservation till I had keys in my hand. Told those who arrived early to come back at the time of their reservation and didn’t let them get in line for the available cars. Made those who didn’t return at the exact minute of their reservation wait longer even though they were originally early. Terrible experience all around and gives kayak a bad name for even being associated with them.

Car was dirty, queue for picking up the car longer than an hour, even through we arrived in time, level of fuel lower than they wrote in the contract, service terrible, they even shouted at us at one point. Not renting from them again.

The staff at the Thrifty W 83 St New York is efficient and friendly. The car was fine. However, when we tried to add a day to our rental, it was impossible. At the various numbers we called , they told us that the only way to add a day to our rental was to go in person to Thrifty Corporate office, a preposterous offer. We gave up and did not add a day. When I told the staff at Thrifty W 83 St about this, while returning the car, they said they had never heard of such a policy.

Office closed at 3:00 pm on Friday. I assumed it was open until 5:00 pm I should have been contacted to let me know. The staff was exceptionally pleasant courteous and helpful. Great staff.

The front office was exceedingly efficient and helpful. I was an hour late returning my car, and it was my fault, so I declined the waived surcharged. I told him I should pay it. I have a business, too. Thank you for a great experience all around. The staff across the street receiving the return was also very efficient, knowledgeable, and professional.

I was given a car that smelled terribly of cigarette smoke. Thrifty charge $400 to those who smoke in their vehicles, but appear to make no effort to rehab the car and eliminate the odor. That left me having to endure the entire rental period with a disgusting second hand smoke smell. Noxious.

the cars, since CoVid pandemic began had been sanitized, but this rental car was not cleaned, on the inside although we're still in the pandemic. Which lends to a very uncomfortable ride. I wiped down the touchable parts and found them to be dirty and dusty. I also requested a compact car since there was one person in the car and gas prices. Also, some toll booths treat SUV's as trucks and charge more. One more thing, because the cars are not filled with gas, it's hard to pre turn the car with the amount you leave with. Your prices are astronomical and not compatible with the city in which we rent.

The representative I met in the morning was so nice and friendly. She wanted to get me out of there quick so she gave me an upgrade. Everyone at this enterprise has a great work ethic and sense of urgency helping out their customers. Will definitely go back.

All 4 tires had pressures below 20 PSI. This was discovered in a isolated area with few service stations with a working air pump. Low tire pressures can lead to a blowout, would have been devastating. I had to endure the low pressure warning after filling the 4 tires to the proper inflation pressure. I was also surprised that it was a 2021 model year vehicle.

Avis staff are great. My car was ready within minutes even after having a upgrade model. Drop off was a smooth process. Ask for a paper receipt, I didn’t get any email with it.

When I picked up the car I had a meeting I had to go to ....they told me the car only had 1/8 of tank of gas! I had to spend 30 minutes looking for gas station. I asked for another car and they wouldn't give me an upgrade even though I am a Avis business customer and platinum AMX - Worst of all- the car smelled like smoke!!!!!

When we picked up our Kia Sorento it smelt so strongly of cigarette smoke that it was nauseating. When we informed the Hertz employee all they said was “ we don’t have any other vehicles” , he did not even apologize. We had to drive with our windows down the whole way and by the time we got to our destination, all our luggage smelt of smoke too.

The car had no battery, as soon as I went from the pick-up to the hotel it did not start. Lost 1h in total on the call center and waiting for someone to come with a battery kit.
