The rental experience was good but the vehicle I received was really uncomfortable

Car smelled of tobacco covered up by an intense car freshener. Dome lights were not working. They initially offered a Tesla. I believe it's ridiculous to offer an electric vehicle for a manager special given they require long charging times. The battery was already at 30% when I was to receive it. They then upcharged me ~$80 to get a vehicle other than the Tesla. I understand that you don't get a choice with the "manager's special" but that should only include standard automatic gas-operated vehicles.

The mess between hertz/kayak was confusion. Getting into the bldging was a mess and the staff told me to call the office or go online. Basically no service. I cancelled.

Paid close to 900 for a compact car for week and a day. Not sure when it got so damn expensive. The staff was great though and the process was lightening fast.

They did not have my car available at my pick up time and told me I would have to wait 2 hours. I asked for some sort of compensation and they refused. I had sadly already paid for my rental. I called customer service at Hertz and they were rude and refused to let me speak to their supervisor. There were about 20 angry people waiting for cars when I finally left with a vehicle. They overbook and don't have vehicles available to meet their obligations and ruin people's vacations.
