This was actually a nightmare. We reserved the car weeks in advance. We get there and the man working at the desk was incredibly rude. My boyfriend has an international license - I made the reservation to pick up the car. We came prepared with someone who has the license to get the car, but because I made the reservation and pre-payed the $160 they refused to loan us the car. He stated that in order for us to take the car, we would need to pay an additional $650. I asked the gentleman to NOT cancel our reservation so that we could go and figure out what we were going to do, as it was 11pm and there were not many options. Luckily we found a very kind person working at another car rental service that was able to help us. When I went back to let him know what we had decided on, he stated “I already cancelled your rental- you likely won’t be refunded for more than 1/5 of your trip.” First of all, I had never requested for the rental to be cancelled, so if we had decided to stick with Sixt, we would have been completely screwed. On opt of that, I still have not been contacted by Sixt and have not received any refund whatsoever. I needed a rental to get to a wedding. Instead of paying the $150 that I had pre-paid, it ended up costing me over $500 for a rental. Thank you Sixt for making my experience a living hell.
