When I arrived at the pickup counter at the off-airport site, and declined the Budget insurance, the staff told me I had to show my proof of insurance (i.e., my insurance card or a copy of my personal car insurance policy). I don't travel with those documents. I have rented a car hundreds of times in my life, I ALWAYS decline rental agency insurance because my policy covers rental cars, and I have NEVER been asked to show proof of insurance. I was not advised beforehand of this requirement. The agent at the rental counter was EXTREMELY unhelpful in having me problem solve this issue.

I have never had such a quick and easy pick up/drop off. The staff was courteous, the car was ready and waiting. It was fast and easy. Dropping off was the same. Super easy and they processed the deposit credit very fast. Very happy with this experience!

Reserved the car for noon. When I showed up, there were no cars available. Had to wait until 2pm for a car. This caused a significant delay in our plans for the day as we were going to visit two different tourist attractions outside of Nola. With the delay we were set back and couldn't do the things we had planned. Had to re-route our trip on the fly.
Hertz was unable to supply a rental car. I had to go to a different provider.

I had a shock when I turned up to the airport and my car hire that was listed on the website as £250 turned into a bill of almost £600! Insurance costs just under £80 for each day and then a petrol price of $9.90 per gallon is just outrageous! Had no choice as needed a car and other providers sold out as it was collection time. Not Hertz's problem but it takes a while to get to and from the car pickup and dropoff to the terminal. Otherwise all was fine.
If I could give Dollar a minus star I would. Spent 1 hr and 45 minutes in a line to have the 1 lady working tell me they sold out of the cars I reserved over 1 week ago & even gave them a pick up time. Never offered an upgrade or alternative. I came in town for a funeral that I never made it to due to being in line almost 2 hours! Worst company and worst customer service. NEVER WILL I USE DOLLAR AGAIN. I feel like they owe me a plane ticket for making me miss my aunt's funeral.

Don't know about any of the above. Arrived at MSY to find Dollar with a 5 row line to the counter. Waited 30 min with only moving up 1 row. Which meant I had another 2 hr wait. Noted that all the other rental agencies had 0-2 person line. I went to FB to inform DOLLAR of the situation. The chat person said they would speak to the MSY office, but I didn't expect any improvement. I canceled the rental and rented from Alamo. In and out in 10 min.

This was awful, I get there and the car they gave me had a slew of water stains, smelled like smoke and had cigarette burns in the seats. I had to go back to the counter and they took an hour to give me another car. This car was missing body parts and bumper was loose. No-one looked at the car with me and claimed that I damaged the car when I returned it. I will NEVER use KAYAK of DOLLAR car rental service again.

I had a reservation for rental car at 10:00 am. There were 30 people in line and no cars to give them. As they processed each person - they were told to step aside and wait for a car. I was going to have to wait for hours. Ridiculous and unprofessional.

The counter staff was an absolute nightmare. We were disrespected and had to wait a full hour just to get our car. There was only one person at the counter and she was upset, inefficient, did not want to work or provide service. SLOW, angry and a not professional. WE WANT OUR MONEY BACK!

The staff was nice. But the car rental facility itself is actually at the old airport parking structure which is a harsh 20 minute+ Shuttle bus ride away. The return location is also very hard to find.

Car was not ready at pickup , we had no option but to take a car that was in my opinion not comparable to a ford edge. But as avis was closing in the next hour we were forced to take a car less than expected. The car had several issues. One of the tires half-flattened daily and all tires were worn out, hardly any profile. Also issues with the door locks. First time in my life a very bad experience with Avis. Tried to change the car but for these kind of issues Avis cannot be reached.

Our reservation was for 10a and we were not in a car until 11a because there was no car ready for us. The desk person really didn't know how to creatively problem solve and had to wait for a manager who then had to call another location to bring a car - that could have been done at the time the desk person knew there wasn't a car for us to pick up. We were an hour late into getting started and then as a result got caught in a storm that had we left on time we would have avoided. Overall very poor - what is the point of a reservation and appointment if you have no car to rent? If we needed to go to another location you just simply should have told us that and saved us an hour of our life.

1st of all, no one appreciates poor personal skills at a customer service face to face situation. After that, was instructed to the appropriate number to get my vehicle. I see a wheel cover less banged piece of garbage with significant vehicular damage to its quarter panel, a vehicle I personally would be embarrassed to be seen in! I went right back in and told the agent exactly that saying no way am I taking that car. Without an apology, perhaps even expecting me back, they subsequently gave me keys to another vehicle about 4 spots away, a beautiful Hyundai Sonata with all the bells and whistles (except Sirious radio). Why Avis , who I really respect as a rental company, would not have given me that car originally I have no idea. Because of the “2” vehicles involved, my ratings are what they are. Turned out well, but not without unneeded issues. Take that car off the lot Avis, don’t embarrass the company.
* Had to take a shuttle to a spot to get another shuttle, so it took extra time. (two shuttles for pick-up & two shuttles for drop off) * The car was a 2019 with 88K miles, and was in rough shape. * I may have saved my company a few dollars, but I wouldn't use again.

Price was good but not worth all the extra time it took to follow their extensive -- and confusing -- directions to get to the car rental location, involving several van rides, and then do the drop-off. Also, holding my breath that they got the car since we dropped it off at 6 pm at the airport on a Sunday after they had closed earlier that day -- which I hadn't realized. Our instructions, delivered by text, were to park the car at the long-term parking lot and leave the doors unlocked with the parking ticket and keys in the glove compartment! And take photos to show where the car was parked and text them to them.
