Car was dirty inside and out. Glove door kept on opening on every bump, seats and interior had dirt and built up gunk on them. Dollar had one attendant available to serve a group of about 50 people. It took almost 2 hours in line to get the car. It was an extreme inconvenience especially for my pregnant wife. The value was also not there, Sixt, Hertz and others had comparable cars for equal or lesser amount. Don’t get me started on the extra “airport” fee that was not included in the original quote. Going to go with Sixt from now on to avoid Dollar and Kayak for hiding the fees.

Thrifty handled the reservation terribly. They had me and many other travelers waiting in line for hours on Saturday and Sunday to finally announce that they would not honor the reservation because it had not been paid in full in advance. There is a complete disconnect in the travel industry regarding how to handle crisis. According to the Wall Street Journal a total of 1,900 flights got cancelled this weekend due to weather and an alleged system update. Thousands of passengers got stranded in Florida and I was one of them. This is not about how me only, it is about how the industry responds to crisis, how hard is it to assess availability of vehicles against booked reservations and communicate with customers via text, e-mail or phone. We arrived at the Fort Lauderdale airport rental as scheduled. There was an extremely long line and we were told that they were out of cars it would be at least a 2 to 3 hour wait. We were there for the day only looking at houses to buy in Port St. Lucie an hour and a half away. We had scheduled appointments with three builders. We had to Uber which cost us $280! Unbelievable! It is my opinion that they should reimburse us this cost as our rental car was only 155Dollars and this was booked a month prior to our arrival. Any hopes of recouping any of our money?

Long line to get car at airport. I waited in line about 30 mins and I was one of the first that arrived. Only 3 at the counter with about 10 people in line waiting behind me. Since they should know when the pickup times are, when the flight arrives and about how rentals for that time period, you would think they would staff appropriately during that time. The economy car section was not that well identified and the attendant just pointed to a bunch of cars and said take one. The return process was ok but under staffed. One person checking in about 8 cars at a time. Again, they know the approximate return times and should staff appropriately. Other than that, the return process was pretty good. Car was clean and well kept, no complaints. Price was reasonable.
