We rented the car for a low advertised price, but there are lots of hidden charges that ended up being MORE than what would have cost us to rent from the airport. I have never experienced making the reservation and automatically becoming a primary driver. And I've booked cars around the world, so we were automatically charged 80 dollars to add an additional driver. we prepaid for the car around 520.00 and was charged an extra 450 on site, including pressuring you to optional insurance for 29.99 a day. This is unclear on the site. Also, the man at the front desk was rude and got frustrated when i asked him about the charges making me feel very uncomfortable and discriminated as a woman. They do not offer shuttle if you drop off during non operating hours (unclear). The cost of this rental ended up being almost 3x more then renting from the airport . And Im travelling with a child making it not convenient with no shuttle during drop off, plus additional uber charges. If you drop off during off hours they ask you to put the key under car mat with the car unlocked. there is no drop off box which i was not comfortable doing. On top, our car broke down the 2nd day of getting it. Locked out twice and would not start - when the company was phoned for support the man was in a hurry to get off the phone, told us to use the physical key in the fob, which was not even cut. Shady and sketchy operation

Poor. I had made an error in location of pick up and called within 20 minutes to cancel rental. I was told to call reservations to do that. I called them and was told to send an email with request. I did that explaining the error and that I had no vehicle and could not afford an uber all the way from Oceanside to San Diego and then asked for a refund. Only to be told that because I was given a discount when I scheduled rental and therefore couldn’t get my money back. I think this is very unfair and very poor business practice. Especially since I never actually got to use the rental I was charged for. I will be going onto various websites to let others know how you are doing business. I will never use your company and will make sure everyone I know is aware of your customer service. Very poor and disappointing. And I am still requesting a refund for services I never received.

This was a really terrible experience. The car rental agent pressured us into purchasing the Collision Damage Waiver, even though I had already told him that, according to the rental policy, it was optional. The agent misled us by claiming that we were required to buy it. The CDW was even more expensive than the car rental itself, which is absolutely ridiculous. I would never use NU Car Rental again. Their business practices are dishonest and unacceptable.
