The sales agent forced me to upgrade the car saying that the car I had rented was no longer available and I would have to wait for who knows how long unless I upgraded. There was an entire line behind me that would also have to wait for cars unless they upgraded? The woman next to me I later found out got a small car like she rented from another agent. The whole experience was sketch….lots of angry people leaving.

I had to do a last minute reservation here after having a nightmare experience with another company - Hertz really won me over as a customer and most of it has to do with their all-star employee, Ahmed! He made sure to list all the rental options and add-ons (typical rental agent stuff) but was not pushy at all and was very transparent with answering all the questions I had regarding some add-ons. Ahmed mentioned possible upgrades to my reservation which I declined, the CDW insurance - which I declined and he did not get pushy or upset about it, just made sure my credit card had the rental coverage and then made sure I had personal injury insurance which is required in CA which I did have since I have my own car insurance. The car was a 2023 Hyundai which was very nice (unfortunately the light interior (rear seat) was already stained by a previous renter but apart from that I was VERY HAPPY!

Hertz’s policy of choosing from a pool of cars (rather than a substitution chosen by them) was a great way to rent car that I normally would not have paid extra for. Great way to better learn more about the benefits of an electric car and how much simpler they are to operate.

I canceled the reservation due to rude service at the location, incorrect information given by customer service and then being told I had to wait 6 hours for a car even though I arrived when they opened.

I thought driving an EV in California wouldn't be a big deal. We were often on edge about where to find charging. Having to download a new app at almost each station was a pain - especially with being from Canada and not having free roaming in the US. And most of the stations charged at very slow rates. This has nothing to do with Hertz, but a warning might have been good. Other than that, the car was nice.

The initial vehicle they gave us was old, dirty and worn. Had to return to the office and request a different vehicle. Which they didn’t have anything that would suite us. So we had to upgrade which they did for us at a heavily discounted rate.

Waited two hours in line to pick up the car at LAX. This is not acceptable. I then found out on return of the car at SFO that the staff member who attended to me at LAX had sold me false information about the toll pass. Tried to speak to someone at dollar about this at SFO but was told to send customer service an email. Just very poor service with dollar. My first time and most likely last time renting with them.

The low price was unbeatable. The new car was wonderful. It just needed an oil change and the procedure to rent a car at pick up was too long and required extra paper work for local renters. If I had known that I may have been better prepared for the long wait and the unexpected $1000 deposit.

We were charged for liability by a rude rep that denied our proof of full coverage insurance, which included liability insurance in the date of California. We were charged close to $150.00 for this liability insurance. We emailed ACE and are trying to resolve. At this time we have not received a reply with a resolution.

ACE was a decent car rental company. Their “counter” agent set up was very weird as it was iPads set up on a booth that would process your rental and they two employees roaming around. We had to wait a little bit for the car as it was still being cleaned, despite arriving at our pickup time. Overall, decent car rental place but not the smoothest and best experience I’ve had.

Well not cancelling my reservation the minute I landed in LAX would have helped. So instead of a vehicle I reserved I had to go elsewhere and pay over double what I was expecting to pay. No alternate vehicle was even offered. Just flat out cancelled. So thanks for making my trip start off on a bad, and more expensive, foot.

After hours Drop off was a nightmare. The parking lot to drop off our car was completely full as well as the parking garage next to it. The area reserved for AVR was roped off and we were unable to put our car in the proper lot. Tried numerous times to call customer service however, no one picks up and they want you to leave a voicemail. After half hour someone finally came out to leave the hotel, and we were able to snag a space. certainly not a pleasant experience when you can find no place to leave your rental and you have a flight to catch. Definitely need an after hours answering service.

The staff was nice, the hidden fees were not and also my fuel level was given to me at less than a quarter and the contract that was emailed to me Dias it was given full, so I had to pay even more to fill the gas. Too many hidden fees, as well as the fact that I signed up for unlimited miles on Kayak and Airport van gave me limited miles. If this was the case I would have book with someone else. This feels like a scam. I am not pleased and am very disappointed in the character and ethics of the company.

Van was big enough for our party of 8 and luggage. However, the van was clearly dated. The van had stains on the seats, the air conditioning did not work reliably, the wind shield fluid was empty. We had a great time in our trip despite the van.

Finding pickup location was not as easy and when we tried to call, no one ever answered. Luckily an airport employee helped us find the correct pick up location. Once we got to correct location, everything else was nice and pleasant.
